Youth Clubs

Junior Youth Club - Primary 5,6, 7 & s1 - Community Centre - Friday 6pm - 7.45pm

The Friday night Youth Club gives the children of the village a safe place to meet their friends and have lots of fun at the same time.   The children take part in compiling a programme together with the youth workers.   The activities have ranged from gymnastics, art & crafts, make-over nights, fitness training, health eating, fruit smoothies and lots lots more.

They also get the opportunity to go on trips outwith the village.   They have been to Xscape, Ayr Farm Park, Science Centre, various Pantos, M&D's to name but a few.  Our last trip was to see Aladinn at Cumbernauld Theatre, here all the clubs went on the one outing and had a fantastic time.

The club re-started back in January and the children helped the youth workers to compile a new programme of events.  Over the next few weeks they will be tacking part in the following:- circuit training, games competitions, valentines disco, sumo suits and big brother  to name but a few.

If you are new to the village or have not been before, get yourself up to the Centre on a Friday night and enjoy the fun, 6pm-7.45pm £1 per session.

Mini Youth Club - Primary 1,2,3 and 4 These session are aimed at giving young people their first contact with the work of the project, the young people come together to learn new skills and have fun in a group setting. So come along and join in the fun. @ the  Community Centre - Friday 4.30pm - 5.30pm, still only £1 per session.

Senior Youth Club - 2nd year and over  It has been a few years since we have had a "senior" group within the project.   It was stopped due to the lack of numbers attending but recently we have been approached by several of our younger residents asking for a "second chance".  The committee agreed that we should support this new group and encourage new members to join in the various activities planned.

AfterSchools Clubs

Fantastic News!....BBC Children In Need have granted our funding application to run our After School Clubs over the next year, this will include a summer week of fun and an Easter week project.   So if you have not been before, get yourself along soon.   We run on a Tuesday (p5,6+7) and Thursday (p2,3+4) in the Community Centre.  Here the members take part in various activities, play games, take part in arts and crafts and have lots of FUN.

Hope you all had a relaxing time over the summer break and ready for the new exciting programme that will soon be on offer.    Our groups will be having more of an input to our community by taking ownership of our "community garden" and looking after the maintenance and ideas for what we want to achieve next.

Another great success with our Project Annual Fun Day.   This year it was on Thursday 30th July - Although the weather was a bit unsettled we managed to have lots and lots of fun.  Our youth workers along with Gillian and myself decided to brighten up the day by dressing up as members of the "Pink Ladies" from Grease the movie, this involved Fergus becoming Sandie for the day and Clark, Danny.   Many of the children also took part, we had power rangers, a princess, nurse, scooby do and many more.  The little nurse (Alex 3) won the overall competition and received 4 tickets to Cheeky Monkeys in Airdrie.

This year we had many other services on the day - Routes to Work, CAB, Carers Together, Coatbridge College, Airtricity, Strathclyde Police and many more all giving out very useful information.   We also learned some very interesting fact on birds of prey from Cloybank Estate and also got beautiful photos and a few people even got the opportunity to hold some of the birds.   Magic Den also put on a fantastic show as well as making lots of balloon models.   The face painting and bouncy castle was very busy as normal (despite having 2 different vaneues as well as 3 face painters), so if you had to queue for sometime, sorry, the girls were working as fast as they could.

We held our annual football competition in the morning which resulted in the Celtic Young Boys winning the cup but they gracefully shared this with the runners up, Caldercruix Future Champions, everyone that took part received a medal, well done to all.
